How to Mount a Scope on a 1917 Enfield

The 1917 Enfield rifle saw limited use in the First and Second World Wars. The rifles were based on the Enfield model 1914, were chambered to fire .30-06 bullets and remain popular for target shooting or hunting. You can attach a modern scope to the 1917 Enfield with simple tools and commonly available replacement parts.

Things You'll Need

Instructions

    • 1

Inspect the chamber of your rifle and make sure your weapon is unloaded.

    • 2

Place your pin punch on the rear-sight retention pin. Use your small hammer to lightly tap-out the pin; it is located on the rear sight that holds in the leaf sight. Lift out the rear sight.

    • 3

Place the base of your rail-scope mount -- located on the bottom of the mount -- into the space that held the rear sight. The rear-sight housing will act as a receptor for the base of the mount.

    • 4

Slide the rail-mount retention screw through the hole that held the rear sight retention pin. Secure it with the provided nut. The rail mount is now installed and you may attach your scope.
