How to Use the Rear Sight on Mosin Nagants

Mosin-Nagant M91/30 rifles were the primary battle rifles used by the Soviet army during the Second World War. These rifles are now among the most popular surplus rifles available today and enjoy use among both sport shooters and hunters alike. The Mosin-Nagant M91/30 has a flip up open rear sight and a single front sight protected by a shroud. The rear sight is adjustable for range in 100 meter increments.

Instructions

  Bring the rear sight to its full upright position.

  Press the latches on the sides of the slide mechanism so the sight can move.

  Set the range in meters by positioning the lines on the rear sight with the range marks for your desired range. For example, aligning the sight with the "1" range mark sets the sight for 100 meters.

  Line up the top of your front sight with where you would like the bullet to hit. Position your rifle so that the top of the front sight appears centered and aligned with the the notch in the rear sight.

  Fire your rifle.
