How to Use a Leupold Mark AR Scope

The Leupold Mark AR series of scopes are specifically engineered for use with AR 15 rifles. Although they would perform equally as well on any rifle using 5.56mm NATO ammunition. There are four scope models available applicable from short- to long-range shooting. All of the scopes are shockproof, waterproof and feature mulicoat 4 lens protection. The scopes are available with either Duplex or Mil-Dot reticles --- the advantage of Mil-Dot being that you can better estimate range.

Instructions

    • 1

Adjust the magnification to the desired setting by using the power indicator dial located in front of the eyepiece. The dial features a tactile indicator so that you can tell your power setting by feel alone.

    • 2

Adjust the vertical and horizontal axis of your scope reticles by using the turrets located on the top and right hand side of the school body. The top turret adjusts the vertical axis and the right-hand turret the horizontal axis.

    • 3

Set your scope to compensate for bullet drop with the bullet drop compensator dial located on top of the upper turret --- the adjustment turret for the vertical axis. By setting the range to target the BDC optimizes the scope for the ballistics of 5.56mm ammunition. For example the setting of "5" optimize the scope for 500 yards. The only model without this feature is the Mark AR 1.5-4x20mm.

    • 4

Set your scope to compensate for parallax error by setting the objective bell (located at the far end of your scope) to the range to target. Parallax is an optical illusion of false target movement often encountered at long ranges with high magnification. The long-range Mark AR scopes are equipped with this feature.
