How to Mount a Rifle Scope Using a Dovetail Scope Base

Using a dovetail scope base is an excellent method to securely mount your scope to your bolt-action rifle. The term "dovetail" refers to the appearance of the scope rings' bases, which slide into the top of the mounts and lock into position when rotated. Most modern bolt-action rifles have scope-mounting screw holes pre-drilled and taped into the top of the rifle. Mounting a scope with a dovetail scope base is a quick process that you can do at home and does not require the services of gunsmith.

    • 4
