Instructions
Zero in the Ruger with the scope at your shooting range. Most small game is taken within 30 yards.
Request permission from the owner if you are hunting on private land.
Waiting for the animal to come to you, or walking the land are both acceptable ways of finding small game. Look for signs of recent activity such as trails, scat, or discarded nutshells.
Obtain a clean sight on the prey, with no obstructions in the way and a clear background.
Aim for a headshot on the animal. A .22LR, especially a high-velocity cartridge, is capable of destroying a large portion of the meat if the animal is hit any other place.
Refrain from too quick of a follow-up shot if you miss the first shot. Take the necessary time to regain the target within the scope. Trying to hit a fleeing rabbit or squirrel is very difficult.
