How to Reload the .44 AutoMag

While carrying the most powerful loads, your .44 Automag can be as sensitive as a regular rifle when it comes to case length. The.44 Automag cartridge was first introduced in 1971. It is known for its rimless and straight wall case that was formed by length reduction of the well-known .308 Winchester case to 1.30 inches. It was designed to shoot bullets in .429 inch in the same velocity as a regular .44 Magnum. You can reload your .44 Automag without the help of an expert. The process only requires a keen eye and a handful of materials.

Instructions

    • 1

Choose a .429-inch diameter bullet for your .44 Automag that measures at least 240 to 310 grains. Lighter bullets, especially those with a flat point or round nose design, are intended for use for the lower-power cartridges and may also fail at achieving higher velocities produced by your weapon.

    • 2

Gather some gun powder of at least medium burning rate. For slower powder, you can use either N-105 or N-350. N-350 can provide moderate-speed powder and can get to at least 1,300 frames per second.

    • 3

Adjust the bullet seating die by threading its seating plug in or out of your die body in order to produce an overall cartridge length of at least 2.8 inches, based on your caliper's measurements.

    • 4

Hold your gun with its barrel extending away from you and locate the gun's loading chamber found at the top of your gun or on its side.

    • 5

Push each bullet in the loading chamber, one at a time until you hear the chamber click. Repeat the process until your gun is fully loaded.
