Mustang Design
The Colt Mustang .380 functions nearly identically to the larger model 1911 pistol; however, the Mustang does not have the trigger safety on the back of the grip. The pistol features a 2 2/3-inch barrel, a six-round magazine capacity and was produced with a stainless or blued finish. The Colt Mustang is no longer in production, however, they are available through independent gun dealers and online auctions.
Loading the Weapon
Press the magazine release button on the left side of the grip and remove the magazine. Load the magazine and insert it into the magazine well until it catches. Pull back the slide and release, and the top bullet from the magazine will load into the chamber. The hammer should be in the fully cocked-back position. Place the pistol's safety, located on the left side next to the hammer, in the up position.
Basic Operation
To fire your Mustang, take off the safety by pressing it to the down position, aim and squeeze the trigger. When your Mustang fires, the upper slide will slide back and forth, ejecting the empty shell casing, loading the next bullet and re-cocking the hammer. When the last bullet has fired, the slide will lock open. Reload the pistol by putting in a fresh magazine and pressing the slide-release button on the left side of the pistol above the trigger housing.
