How to Install a Springfield Scope Mount

Springfield Armory scope mounts are two-point mounting systems specifically designed to mount on the Springfield M1A rifle, the civilian version of the military's M14 rifle. The latest version of the Springfield scope mount is the fourth generation; however, the instructions also apply to previous versions of Springfield scope mounts. When properly installed, your scope may appear to be mounted at a slight angle. This is by design. According to Springfield Armory, this design ensures clearance for ejecting cartridges. The elevation adjustment on the scope compensates for this angle.

Things You'll Need

  • Small rubber mallet
  • 3/32-inch (or smaller) pin punch
