How to Put a Sling on a 1903 Springfield Rifle

The 1903 Springfield rifle was the standard issue for the U.S. military at the beginning of the 20th century. During its production, the Springfield armory produced more than 1 million M1903 rifles between 1903 and 1936, according to NPS.gov. The rifle was renowned for being extremely durable and versatile, as it was easily modified for particular battlefield protocol. The rifle was also carried with a two-point leather or web sling, which made transport easier for soldiers. Attaching the M1903 sling can be done the same way as it was a century ago.
