How to Dismantle & Clean a Glock 26

The Glock mode26 is a subcompact pistol with a 10 round magazine capacity, chambered in 9 mm. The Glock 26 is also known as the "Baby Glock" because of its small size and lightweight. The pistol will also accept the high capacity magazines used by the Glock 17 pistol. Glock pistols are simply designed and require no special tools for disassembly. Before disassembling and cleaning your Glock 26, remember to check the chamber and ensure that the weapon is unloaded.

Instructions

    • 1

Remove the magazine by pressing the magazine release located on the left side of the pistol just behind the trigger guard.

    • 2

Locate the slide-locks--protruding from both sides of the pistol just above the trigger guard--and pull them down. Simultaneously, pull the slide back approximately 1/10 of an inch and immediately push it forward until it separates from the pistol grip assembly.

    • 3

Turn your slide over and remove the spring assembly by lifting it off the step located on the end of the barrel. Remove the barrel from the slide by lifting it out.

    • 4

Apply a liquid carbon remover to your brush and brush off your parts. Use your rags to wipe off additional carbon.

    • 5

Attach your bore cleaning brush to your cleaning rod, place some carbon remover on the brush and scrub the interior of your barrel.

    • 6

Remove the bore cleaning brush from your cleaning rod and use the rod to pass clean patches through your barrel; continue until the patches come through clean.

    • 7

Apply a small amount of gun oil to all the weapon parts and reassemble your Glock 26.
