Information on Hi-Lux Rifle Scopes

The lineage of Leatherwood/Hi-Lux rifle scopes goes back to scope maker Jim Leatherwood, who designed the scopes for sniper use during the Vietnam era. Hi-Lux scopes are designed to make range estimation easier for the shooter.
  1. Automatic Ranging Trajectory

    • Hi-Lux scopes feature an automatic ranging trajectory (ART) system to help the shooter quickly determine target range and bullet drop. By using information displayed on the scope's lens the ART system allows for accuracy beyond conventional scopes.

    Construction

    • Hi-Lux scopes are shockproof, waterproof and built to withstand the recoil of a 50-caliber bullet without adversely affecting the precision of the scope. Hi-Lux scopes are guaranteed with a limited lifetime warranty.

    Parallax Adjustment

    • For long-range shooting, Hi-Lux scopes have parallax adjustment dials located on the side of the scope. Parallax is an optical illusion of the target moving caused by a shift in the shooter's line of sight and commonly occurs when viewing long-range targets with high magnification. Setting the parallax adjustment to the range of your target alleviates the problem. The parallax adjustment can be quickly adjusted so the shooter can quickly engage multiple targets at different ranges.
