How to Clean the Plastic Handle on Glock 22

The Glock was a revolutionary pistol with its use of plastic on the handle, or receiver, instead of metal and wood. Not only did this make the gun much lighter, but the ability to easily wipe it clean made it a favorite among gun owners. The Glock 22 requires no special tools to disassemble, and a quick maintenance cleaning is done in just minutes.

Instructions

    • 1

Pull the slide back approximately 1/10 inch. Push and hold both sides of the slide lock down. Ease the slide off the front end of the gun.

    • 2

Dampen a clean rag with gun cleaning solvent. Wipe the inside of the plastic receiver, paying attention to the locking block, connector, ejector, and cruciform. Use a stiff, cotton-tipped swab to clean inside the nooks and crannies. Continue cleaning until the rag no longer picks up dirt. Wipe everything dry.

Reassemble the handgun by placing the slide back on the slide rails and pulling it back into position.
