Responsible Gun Use
The most effective safety for the G21pistol, or any firearm, is a responsible shooter. Before using your G21, familiarize yourself with its basic operation and never place your finger on the trigger until you’re ready to shoot.
The G21 Trigger Safety
On the front of the trigger is a small safety switch which must be pulled back for the trigger to move rearward (this safety is activated when the finger is placed on the trigger). The trigger safety prevents the trigger for moving unless intentionally pulled.
Loaded Chamber Indicator
On the right side of the G21, just behind the action, is the extractor which jettisons the empty cartridges after a bullet is fired. The extractor also serves as an indicator to whether the weapon is loaded or not. If the extractor is flush with the side of the weapon then there is a bullet in the chamber. If the extractor is turned slightly into the weapon, then the pistol is unloaded.
Firing Pin Safety
The firing pin of the G21 is separated from the chamber by an internal steel pin that moves out of the way when the trigger is pulled. When the trigger is released, the pin moves back into position.
Drop Safety
All Glock pistols feature an internal ramp that prevents trigger movement unless the trigger is pulled. This safety prevents the weapon from accidentally firing as a result of a sudden impact (such as being dropped).
