Glock G21 Vs. G23

Glock's G21 is a standard-sized pistol chambered for .45 ACP. The G23 is a compact-sized pistol chambered in .40 caliber. The functioning of these weapons is identical; they both feature Glock's "safe-action" system (a series of safeties that make the pistol inoperable until the trigger is pulled). Both of these pistols are reliable and of the highest quality.
  1. Weight

    • The G21 weighs 26.28 oz. empty and 38.28 oz. loaded. The G23 has an empty weight of 21.16 oz. and a loaded weight of 31.03 oz. (with a standard 13-round magazine).

    Dimensions

    • The G21 is 7.59 inches long, 5.47 inches tall and has a width of 1.27 inches. The G23 is 6.85 inches long, 5 inches tall and 1.27 inches wide.

    Line of Sight

    • The line of sight (distance between the front and rear sights) of the two pistols is distinctly different. The G21 has a longer line of sight of 6.77 inches compared to 6.02 inches on the G23. The line-of-sight distance influences the aiming accuracy of the pistol; generally speaking, the longer the distance, the greater the accuracy.

    Magazine Capacity

    • The standard magazine capacities of these two pistols are both 13 rounds. The G23 has two higher capacity magazines available--a 15-round magazine and a 17-round magazine.

    Glock "C" Models

    • Both of these guns are also available as "C' models. Glock "C" models have slits cut into the top of the barrel and the upper receiver; the slits compensate for recoil by channeling gases upward. The "C" models are designed to keep the pistol on target during rapid fire.
