How to Remove a Heat Shield From a DPMS AR15

DPMS rifles are in use worldwide among military and law enforcement agencies; DPMS rifles are also very popular among civilian shooters. The hand guards on an AR-15 rifles act as heat shields around the barrels and require no special tools to remove.

Instructions

      Ensure that your DPMS AR-15 rifle is unloaded.

      Pull the retention ring (or delta ring), located just before the receiver, toward the receiver. As the ring is pulled back, the hand guards are released.

    • 3

      Remove the two hand guards, exposing the barrel, then release the retention ring.
