How to Remove a Bore Sight

Using a bore sighter to sight-in your rifle is quick, effective and safe. The bore sighter lets you sight-in your rifle without having to fire it. Bore sighters come in two varieties: optical and laser. Laser boresighters are available in end-mounted or bullet-shaped styles; bullet-shaped lasers are inserted into the rifle's action. Optical bore sighters are affixed to the end of the barrel by either a magnet or an arbor that is inserted down the barrel. The proper removal and storage of a bore sighter is a simple process.

Instructions

  1. Laser Bore Sighter Removal

    • 1

Turn off your laser bore sighter (if end-mounted), or open your rifles action (if bullet-shaped). Bullet- shaped bore sighters disengage when removed from the action.

    • 2

Remove the batteries from the bore sighter. Storing the bore sighter with the batteries in place reduces battery life and can possibly damage your bore sighter.

    • 3

Store the laser bore sighter in a dry location.

    Optical Bore Sighter Removal

    • 4

Remove the bore sighter arbor from the end of the barrel, or turn off the bore sighter magnet.

    • 5

Return the bore sighter to its case.

    • 6

Store the optical bore sighter in a dry location.
