How to Install a Stock Mag SKS

Installing a new stock on your SKS rifle is easy to do and does not require any special tools. SKS rifles were produced in the 1950s for the Soviet army and were produced en masse by both Eastern Bloc countries and China. These surplus rifles are typically inexpensive and reliable. Replacement stocks and parts are now generally produced by American companies and comply with Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives regulations. Before installing a new stock on your SKS rifle, always verify that it is unloaded.

Instructions

    • 1

Engage the rifle's safety and press the small button behind the trigger. The trigger group will release.

    • 2

Pull back on the bolt and magazine; this will cause the magazine to pivot forward and out of the stock.

    • 3

Remove the receiver and barrel assembly from the original stock and place it into your replacement stock.

    • 4

Place the trigger group into the new stock and seat it into position with a light tap to the trigger guard's bottom.

    • 5

Place the safety into the fire position. This verifies that the trigger group is re-engaged.
