Information on Leatherwood Rifle Scopes

Leatherwood Scopes were designed by Jim Leatherwood for sniper use during the Vietnam War. As a testament to the quality of Leatherwood riflescope, some of scopes used in Vietnam are now in service in Iraq and Afghanistan. Leatherwood scopes featured technology that made range estimation much easier, which greatly increased the effectiveness of snipers. Leatherwood scopes offer the civilian market the same quality that made their military use legendary.
  1. Automatic Ranging Trajectory

    • Leatherwood̵7;s Automatic Ranging Trajectory (ART) system allows the shooter to quickly determine range and bullet drop, using information seen on the scopes lens. ART gives shooters accuracy beyond that of open sights or conventional scopes.

    Construction

    • Leatherwood scopes are shockproof and waterproof. All of Leatherwood ATR scopes are designed to withstand the recoil of the large .50-caliber round without affecting the precision of the scope. Leatherwood backs the quality of its scopes with a limited lifetime warranty.

    Parallax Adjustment

    • For scopes designed for long-range shooting, Leatherwood has positioned a parallax adjustment dial conveniently on the side of the scope. Parallax is the optical illusion of target movement caused by the shooter shifting his line of sight. The parallax adjustment dial can quickly be adjusted, allowing for engagement of targets at multiple ranges.

    Red-Dot Scopes

    • Leatherwood offers a series of red-dot scopes for situations requiring quick target acquisition. Leatherwood red-dot scopes are lightweight and compact. The scopes are becoming increasingly popular among handgun shooters, allowing for faster and more accurate targeting.

    Vintage Scopes

    • Leatherwood optics now produces the ̶0;WM. Malcom̶1; series of scopes. The scopes are reproductions of 19th-century scopes and are perfect complements to reproduction rifles. These scopes offer the appearance of antiquity with the technology of the 21st century.
