Instructions
Make sure you are eligible for a license. You have to be at least 21 years old to apply for a curio and relics license and must not be a convicted felon who has willfully violated the Gun Control Act. You also have to certify that if you ever intend to use your license for business, you will comply with state and local requirements.
Order the curio and relics FFL application packet (Form 7CR) from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives Distribution Center. You can order the packet online at the ATF website or by calling the distribution center at 703-455-7801.
Fill out the two forms that are mailed to you. Make sure you provide all requested information in the forms. Have your fingerprints and photograph taken by a law enforcement agency in your area and include these in your application.
Send one of the forms to the ATF along with proof that you paid the $30 licensing fee (as of 2010). Send the other form to your local Chief Law Enforcement Officer. The CLEO is the head of your local police department.
Wait six to eight weeks to receive your license, then put it in a safe place. Do not sign the original copy of the document. Make several copies and sign those instead.
Renew your curio and relics FFL after three years. If you forget to renew it, the ATF will contact you with a reminder that you need to do so.
