How to Install Rings on a Weaver Scope Base 10/22

The Ruger 10/22 is a reliable .22-caliber rifle that has set the standard of rimfire rifles since its introduction in 1964. The rifles do not come equipped with weaver-style scope bases (the exception being the Ruger 10/22 target tactical model). However, a weaver scope base can easily be attached aftermarket by a competent gunsmith.

Instructions

    • 1

Check to ensure that your Ruger 10/22 rifle is unloaded.

    • 2

Attach the weaver scope rings to your scope using the 7/16 Allen wrench. Do not completely tighten the screws (allow for play to adjust the scope position).

    • 3

Widen the mounting brackets at the base of the rings by loosening the mounting screws.

    • 4

Line up the mounting screws with the slots running across the weaver base mount and tighten (securing the brackets over the sides of the weaver base).

    • 5

Align the scope so the cross hairs appear (as seen through the scope) straight up and straight across.

    • 6

Adjust the scope's placement (along the length of the base mount) to provide the clearest sight picture.

    • 7

Secure the back set of scope rings and check the scope for comfort and clarity. For further adjustments, loosen the rings and reposition the scope.

    • 8

Tighten the remaining scope ring screws.
