Red dot scopes emit a red LED light, which can only be seen by the shooter. While looking through a red dot scope, a red light appears to be projected onto the target. To the shooter, the red dot looks exactly like a laser; however, the scope does not project a laser beam to others. Given the point-and-shoot nature of shotgun shooting, red dot scopes are particularly well-suited for use with shotguns. Red dot scopes can be easily mounted on any shotgun equipped with a weaver style mount (also known as a rail mount).
