How to Mount a Scope on a Mossberg 695

The Mossberg 695 is a bolt action shotgun introduced in 1996. The shotgun was the subject of a voluntary recall by Mossberg when it was discovered that closing the bolt could result in an accidental discharge (the Mossberg 695 is no longer in production). The Mossberg 695 was produced with weaver style scope bases already attached, allowing the shooter to quickly attach a scope without the aid of a gunsmith.

Things You'll Need

  • Weaver scope rings
  • 7/64 Allen wrench

Instructions

    • 1

Check the shotgun's chamber and ensure that it̵7;s unloaded.

    • 2

Using the 7/16 Allen wrench, attach the weaver scope rings to the scope but do not completely tighten the screws.

    • 3

Loosen the adjustment screws at the bottom of the scope rings, line them up with the slots in the weaver base mount and tighten.

    • 4

Position the scope so the crosshairs are set correctly (straight up and straight across).

    • 5

Adjust the scope̵7;s placement to give you a clear sight picture. Be careful not to place the scope too far back; this can cause the eyepiece to hit you when the shotgun is fired.

    • 6

Tighten one set of screws on the weaver scope rings and check the position of the scope for comfort and clarity.

    • 7

If further adjustments are needed, loosen the screws and reposition the scope.

    • 8

When you̵7;re satisfied with the scope position, tighten the remaining screws.
