How to Organize Your Gun Safe

Many gun owners probably don't give much thought to organizing their gun safes. There are, however, some methods that are better than others. Because many accessories are available for guns, it's a good idea to know how to store ammunition, cleaners and spare parts, as well.

Things You'll Need

Desiccant
Fireproof boxes

  Put a small package of desiccant in your gun safe to decrease moisture. Desiccant can be purchased at gun supply stores or can be found in new items such as shoes and pocketbooks.

  Store ammunition in fireproof boxes on the bottom shelves.

  Put gun manuals and warranty information in an envelope on the bottom shelf.

  Store rifles and shotguns in an alternating pattern--one with the muzzle up, the next with the muzzle down. This method will allow you to store more in the main part of the gun safe.

  Keep spare parts and gun oil in the the door shelf.
- 6
  Use the top shelf of the gun safe for handguns.
