Gun Case/Cabinet
Display your guns in a gun case or cabinet if you have little worry of someone accidentally firing the gun in the home. A gun cabinet can be an attractive way to display your guns. Gun cabinets are usually made of solid wood and have glass panels for looking through. Gun cabinets usually have a locking mechanism as well, keeping the guns out of reach without a key. However, glass and wood can be easily broken, making this a somewhat ineffective way to store a gun if you are worried about someone young or inexperienced stumbling upon the gun. The best way to store a gun, no matter what the gun is stored in, is to keep the gun unloaded and the ammunition kept somewhere else.
Gun Safe
A gun safe is one of the most effective ways to store a gun. Gun safes are usually heavy and difficult to move and can be anchored to the floor. Safes come with a combination lock, keeping out anyone who may want to access your guns. Safes are usually fire resistant as well, keeping your guns and other personal items you may wish to store safe from a house fire.
Broken-Down State
One of the safest ways to store a gun is to keep it in a broken-down state, where the gun is disassembled and stored away from reach. This method prevents anyone who does not know how to assemble the gun from using it. One issue is that during a home invasion the gun is useless until it is fully assembled. One way to prevent this being an issue is to keep the gun mostly assembled, only removing one integral piece of the unit and keeping it somewhere safe. This is especially effective for guns that utilize clips.
Another option is fitting a trigger lock on the gun to prevent anyone without the key from firing it. This has the same problem as disassembly, however, as removing a trigger lock can sometimes be difficult, especially during a home invasion.
