How to Put On a Mauser Gun Sling

Rifles used during the World Wars are among the more sought after collectible guns. One of the more popular manufacturers was Mauser, and if you have possession of both a Mauser rifle and a matching sling, properly putting your sling on your rifle is a simple process, requiring no outside tools.

  • Sling with keeper

Instructions

    • 1

      Slide the notched end of the sling through the metal clip at the front of the rifle, with the underside of the sling facing up.

      Bend the notched end of the sling back over the clip, and through the leather loop on the sling.

      Pass the notched end of the sling through the clip at the end of the sling.

      Pass the end end of the sling through the notch on the butt of the rifle.

      Slide the keeper, the small leather end with a notch to fit the sling and a metal button, over the end of the sling, and press it snug against the butt of the rifle.

      Pass the button of the keeper through one of the notches at the end of the sling, and pull the slack in the sling back through to the other side of the butt, so that the keeper is snug against the butt, with the sling pulled tight against the button.
