Instructions

  1. How to Clean Black Powder Guns

    • 1

Pull out the breech plug and put some cleaning solution on the small brush. Pull the brush thorough the breech plug until you can clearly see light coming in from it. Run a Q-Tip through the breech plug several times until it is completely dry.

    • 2

Saturate a piece of the white cloth with cleaning solution and attach the cloth to the ramrod. You would push the ramrod through the firing end of the barrel all the way down into it and then pull it back out. You will do this a total of two times.

    • 3

Attach the cleaning brush to the end of the ramrod where it can screw in. Pass the brush through the firing end of the barrel about 15 times.

    • 4

Saturate another piece of cloth with the cleaning solution and pass it through the firing end of the barrel three times.

    • 5

In turn, take each of four white cloth pieces and run it totally though the barrel. Continue to do this until the rusty look that shows on the cloth is barely visible.

    • 6

Before reassembling the breech plug, saturate a white piece of cloth with the rust prevention solution and run it down into the firing end of the barrel all the way in and out one last time.
