How to Field Strip the FN P90/PS90

Field stripping the FN P90 and the FN PS90 removes the working parts of the guns for cleaning and inspection. The P90 is a fully automatic weapon restricted to law enforcement use only, while the PS90 is the semi-automatic civilian model and is available to anyone who can legally own a gun. It's possible to field strip either model in 10 seconds.

Instructions

    • 1

Push the magazine release button and remove the magazine from the gun. Open the chamber to be sure the gun is completely unloaded.

    • 2

Put a finger into the magazine housing to locate the disassembly button. Press down on the button. This allows you to pull the upper receiver forward and away from the lower body to remove the four working assemblies.

    • 3

Pull the barrel support/optical sight group forward out of the stock assembly. Push the moving parts group forward through the magazine opening. Raise the hammer group-locking latch and withdraw the hammer group. Lift out the frame and trigger section.

    • 4

Empty the magazine, place the bullets on a cloth where they won't roll away from you and inspect the feeder plate and spring.

    • 5

Lay out all the components on a clean cloth to inspect and clean each of them separately.

    • 6

Check the lower body and contact surfaces for dirt, wear and damage. Clean as necessary.

    • 7

Reassemble the weapon in the same order that you took it apart. Do a thorough safety check, including dry firing, to be sure all the parts are properly aligned and freely functioning before reloading or storing it away.
