How to Sell Action Figure Toys for Fun or Profit

Though most action figures initially sell for a small fee, rare action figures often resell for hundreds or thousands of dollars. Due to low demand, most action figures sales occur on specialty websites such as Soldster, Found Value or Collector Action Figures. Other buyers and sellers utilize bidding websites like eBay. Typically, unused action figures that remain in their original packaging sell for a higher price than new action figures.

  Create a list of the action figures you currently own. On the list, write the exact name of the action figure and the year the figure premiered. Note whether the action figure remains in its original box.

  Visit an action figure selling website (see Resources) and look through the available action figures. Locate the first action figure that appears on your list and write down the price. If possible, locate the action figure on several different websites.

  Average the prices to determine the appropriate selling price for your action figure. If your action figure is especially rare, price it slightly higher than other figures in the same condition. If it's especially common, price it lower than other action figures in the same condition.

  Take several high-quality pictures of your action figure using a digital camera. Upload the pictures to your computer and save them with descriptive names such as "ActionFigure1," "HanSolo2," etc.

  Visit an action figure selling website or an online bidding website (see Resources) and create an account. Click on the "Sell" option. Write a description of the item, including as many details as possible. Add images to the posting using the "Upload" option.

  Repeat the process for the remaining action figures on your list.
