Contact the scrap metal dealers in your area and ask for a scrap metal price list. Find out who pays the most for specific metals and find out each dealer's policies on buying metals. Look for scrap metal that will bring the most money.
Let friends, family and neighbors know that you are collecting scrap metal. You may know people who are getting rid of appliances or other metal objects from their home. Let them know that you will haul it away for them.
Locate a company that hauls away construction debris. Ask what they do with the metal they collect. If they are taking it to the landfill, ask to take it away for them.
Contact local manufacturing companies that trash their scrap metal. Companies can throw away up to 500 lbs. of metal a day. It may take a while to find the right person to help you but be persistent and ask to take that metal off their hands.
Ask people who have metal set on the side of the road in front of their house if you can have the metal. They may be trying to get rid of it. Many people will agree to let you haul it away.
Advertise on free sites such as Craigslist that you will pick up people's metal refuse and haul it away. Offer to haul away trash for free.
