How to Close a Milano Switchblade

For weapons enthusiasts, the Italian-style switchblade knife is a coveted item. Its sleek lines and vintage appearance appeal to collectors, but its sturdy, fast-opening blade makes it practical for use while hunting and camping. For the novice user or collector, closing a knife might be a little confusing. However, the ergonomics of the switchblade are simple to learn. Milano is a reputable Italian blade manufacturer, and all of its switchblades operate in the same way.

Instructions

    • 1

Hold the knife's handle so that your fingers are out of the blade's path. The blade springs outward and up with force, so wield the knife with caution.

    • 2

Press the raised button in the center of the handle to extend the blade.

    • 3

Depress the bolster around the base of the blade. This serves as the locking mechanism which holds the knife in place once extended.

    • 4

Palm the dull edge of the knife and push it downward while keeping the bolster depressed. Push the blade all the way down into the handle's groove until it clicks into place.

    • 5

Return the blade to your bag, storage case or pocket.
