How to Make Your Own Crazy Bands

Crazy Bands, or Silly Bandz, are stretchable loops in the shapes of animals or objects. They are popular among kids. Create a fun activity for your children by investing in a few materials so they can make their own Crazy Bands.

Things You'll Need

Paper
Writing utensil
Scissors
Flat bar of soap
Toothpick
Tube of silicone sealant
Oral syringe
Food coloring (if desired)

Instructions

  Draw your design on the paper and cut it out.

  Place the cutout on the soap and trace around it several times with the toothpick, creating an indentation in the soap. Carve away just a little soap at a time to decrease the chance of making a mistake.

  Fill the syringe about 1/3 full with silicone. If you want a color, add 1 or 2 drops of food coloring to the silicone and use the toothpick to mix it.

  Squeeze the silicone into the trench in the soap. Work slowly to ensure that the silicone is evenly distributed. Wipe away excess silicone carefully. Let the silicone dry for several hours.

  Peel the silicone band from the soap. Trim it if necessary.
