What Are Kinz Klips?

Canadian soft-toy manufacturer Ganz launched Kinz Klips in 2009. The collection of miniature plush animals was designed to complement the company's existing range of popular Webkinz pets. Kinz Klips have a special clip to attach the toy pet to backpacks, zipper pulls or pushbikes. Each toy comes with a secret code that allows the owner to unlock the Zums' Sighting Area in Zumwhere in the Magical Forest on Ganz's Webkinz website.
  1. First Steps

    • Intended as pocket-money toys for ages 6 and above, each Kinz Klip weighs around an ounce and measures about 4 inches with its clip. Following an announcement by Ganz in February 2009 that they were launching "go-anywhere" versions of Webkinz, Kinz Klips were available in shops from April of that year. The initial release of the pocket-sized pets comprised a Kinz Klip Monkey, Kangaroo, Whimsy Dragon, Penguin, Panda and Chihuahua.

    Buying

    • Kinz Klips can be bought from toy outlets or online retailers. They can be purchased individually or alongside their larger Webkinz version in a two-part set. Some retailers detach the Kinz Klips from these sets and sell them separately. Ganz regularly release new pets, including seasonal or limited editions. When a pet is officially "retired" from the range, Ganz stops its production, which tends to increase its value.

    Webkinz World

    • You must be a member of Ganz's official Webkinz World before you can use a Kinz Klip feature code to unlock Zumwhere. You can register online by entering the code from a full-size Webkinz toy. This allows you to join the online community without giving out any personal information. Enter the Magical Forest and use your Kinz Klip feature code to access the Zum Sighting Area.

    Zumwhere

    • Each Kinz Klip has a unique feature code that allows you to enter Zumwhere, home to 48 shy Zums. You can use your virtual camera to take a picture of a Zum. There are challenging minigames to play as you search for the elusive creatures. You earn currency called Zummies and win exclusive virtual prizes by taking good pictures. The more Kinz Klip codes that are entered, the easier it becomes to find the hiding Zums.
