Purchase a plastic storage container with a securely fitting lid. Choose a container that allows for stacking with other containers and has a lid that snaps down tightly.
Wrap knives in a soft cloth to protect the blade and scales, or handles, from damage during storage. .
Place the wrapped knife in a closeable storage bag. Seal the bag tightly to keep moisture away from the knife.
Place the wrapped and bagged knife in the plastic storage container. Write on the plastic bag with a permanent marker to identify the knife.
Add a desiccant container for short term storage. Place small desiccant packs inside the individual plastic bags or use a larger desiccant container placed in the plastic storage container. Place the lid on the storage container.
Store the container in a climate-controlled room that is not subject to variations in temperature. Keep the container out of direct contact with sunlight and air vents.
