How to Clean Holograms

Do not worry if you have a hologram and are afraid of cleaning it. There are ways to clean the hologram without ruining its effects. Holograms are made of photographic film. Although the hologram's materials are sensitive, you can use photographic emulsion cleaner to wipe the hologram without damaging it. Extra care is needed to make sure that no liquid penetrates the front or back surface of the hologram.

Things You'll Need

Cloth
Blow dryer
Tweezers
Cotton balls
Compressed air spray
Soft cloth
Photographic Emulsion Cleaner

Instructions

  Wipe the area of the hologram that you are going to clean with a cloth. Dry the area completely with a blow dryer.

  Wrap the points of a tweezers with cotton balls. Hold the edge of the hologram with the tweezers. The cotton balls prevent scratching the hologram.

  Spray the hologram with a can of compressed air. The compressed air removes dust and other dirt that can damage the hologram.

  Pour photographic emulsion cleaner onto a soft cloth. Wipe the hologram lightly to prevent damaging it. Photographic emulsion cleaner dries instantly. A cloth that is designed to clean monitors or glasses work best.
