Instructions
Remove anything attached to the inside or the outside of the helmet such as face masks, snaps, chinstraps, front pieces, pads or decals following the helmet manufacturer's instructions.
Clean the surfaces of the helmet. Remove any loose dirt, grime or sticky reside left by decals, following the helmet manufacturer's instructions. Some helmets come clean with just soap and water, while others require different cleaning methods.
Rough up the entire surface of the helmet that you plan to paint using a piece of fine grit sandpaper. Do not damage any stitching on the helmet with the sandpaper. Roughing up the surface of the helmet helps the paint to adhere to the helmet.

Spray on a coat of fresh paint over the entire helmet surface, both inside and out, following the instructions on the can of spray paint. Use only the type of spray paint recommended by the helmet manufacturer. Let the first coat of paint dry.
Spray on a second coat of the same paint and let it dry thoroughly.
Replace anything attached to the helmet that was removed prior to repainting.
