Aquanaut Activities for Webelos Physical Skills Badge
Aquanaut activities reflect using the water and safe swimming activities to achieve the positive necessary results necessary to earn a physical skills badge. One applicable activity involves jumping in a pool and submerging your head under the water. Next, come to the surface and then immediately swim 100 feet with at least half of the distance being completed in the backstroke. Continue with this test by again remaining in the water and floating first on your back for 20 second,s then flipping over and doing the same on your front side. Successfully accomplish these activities while breathing at a non-labored rate.
Cub Scouts American Heritage Badge
Today's easy access to computers makes researching and writing simple and quick. Boys that are interested in working towards their American Heritage badge benefit from using this technology. Complete this activity as a group or work on it individually at home. Begin by deciding on two persons, one an elected official important to American history, such as a senator or a president, and the other a private citizen, such as a writer or a religious leader, who had a personal impact on society. Discover each person's contributions and how they affected the past and present lives of everyday American citizens. Write a report on your results and verbally present it to your troop.
Go Canoeing With Cub Scouts
Kids who are innately curious about everything little thing they come in contact with benefit from a canoe trip that addresses every detail surrounding the activity. Begin your adventure when getting your canoe ready for the water. Have Scouts identify all parts of the canoe and its equipment. Discuss how the length and shape of it affects the way it operates and performs as well as the advantages and disadvantages of the selected materials. Address how to properly select a paddle size for each individual participant and review the importance of and specific instructions regarding the use of flotation devices. Pair Scouts up and instruct each to observe as his partner correctly puts on his life vest.
Travel for the Webelos Mental Skills Badge
Adventurous-minded Cub Scouts working on their mental skills badge benefit from the traveler activities. Begin this project by getting your hands on a map related to public transportation from your local area. Commuter and long-distance trains, bus schedules, airlines and ferry boat rides are all applicable options. Find a couple places that it goes that are appealing to the Scout in question. Plan a trip from your local station to the cities outside of the home state. Plan the time it takes to pack, what you need to take and the proper distance and time issues related to getting to and from the travel stations.
