How Can You Fix Broken Silly Bandz?

Silly Bandz are bright-colored silicone bracelets that are made into interesting shapes, such as cartoon characters, reality television stars and holiday symbols. Aimed mainly at children, Silly Bandz are traded among friends at school when permitted, but may break easily when playing outdoors during recess. Fix broken Silly Bandz with items found around the home, and wear repaired Silly Bandz shortly after fixing.

Instructions

    • 1

Place a 5-by-7-inch sheet of wax paper on an ironing board, or over an 8-by-10-inch sheet of cardboard. The cardboard protects surfaces under it from damage. Place the iron on medium heat and set aside.

    • 2

Set the broken Silly Band in the center of the wax paper. Take note of the broken section on the Silly Band, and connect the broken ends with your hands. Then cover the Silly Band with another 5-by-7-inch sheet of wax paper.

    • 3

Lightly set the tip of the iron over the snapped portion of the Silly Band for 30 seconds. The heat from the iron permits the silicone to melt, fusing the broken ends together, while the wax paper prevents the silicone from sticking to the iron.

    • 4

Turn off the iron and set aside. Allow the wax paper and Silly Band to cool at room temperature for five minutes.

    • 5

Remove the top wax sheet that is covering the Silly Band carefully. Gently peel off the sheet of wax paper under the Silly Band.

    • 6

Transfer the Silly Band to a cool, dry place, and allow the silly band to cooling for an additional 10 minutes.
