How to Pull the Wick Out of a Zippo

Zippo lighters are made with replaceable parts, including the wick. You do not need to purchase a new lighter when your Zippo lighter's wick is no longer usable; you can replace the wick yourself. Purchase replacement wicks from Zippo or from an alternative source. If you are replacing your Zippo lighter's wick, you will need to remove the old wick from the chimney first. Removing the wick from your Zippo lighter only takes a few seconds.

     Locate the wick inside of the chimney. The current wick may look black from carbon as opposed to a new wick that usually appears to be off white.

     Grasp the wick with tweezers.

     Pull the wick straight up and out of the chimney with the tweezers. The wick will pull out with ease; you do not need to use force.
