Review some antique collectors' guides for commonly sold items and choose the types of antiques that interest you. Review the prices and determine which items are affordable.
Use the yellow pages to locate antique shops in your town and region. Make a list of their names, addresses and phone numbers.
Call each of the antique shops and ask if they stock any items in the categories you are looking for. Determine which stores are close together and visit a few at a time to make the best use of your travel time.
Review the inventory in each store. Ask if it's OK to take photos. Write the prices down and compare your data from each of the stores. Purchase the antiques at the store that gives you the best quality at the best price.
