How to Find Scholastic Books From the 1970s

The memory of Scholastic books and their subsequent fairs is one that falls into the category of elementary school and middle school nostalgia for most people. Originally called TAB Books (Teen-Age Book club) in the 1950s, Scholastic still produces books for children and teens, though collecting vintage Scholastic books has become a more popular hobby thanks to sites like eBay. Scholastic books from the 1970s are not very difficult to come by, if you know where to look.

  Browse shopping sites such as Amazon and eBay for deals on vintage Scholastic books from the '70s or earlier. According to eBay Guides, Scholastic books from the '50s, '60s and '70s are consecutively numbered within a series and have a series identifier: T, TJ, TK, TX or TW. Scholastic switched to the ISBN (International Standard Book Number) identification method in 1980.

  Call auction houses in your area to find out if they have received any vintage Scholastic book collections recently. Write down auction date and times if applicable, or ask for recommendations as to where you might find Scholastic books from the '70s. Also, try Internet auctions, such as Online Auction, for vintage Scholastic books.
