How to Find a Hummel Figurine

M.I. Hummels are porcelain figurines that were first produced in the 1930s. They depict innocent countryside children and were designed by a Bavarian nun in Germany in the 1920s. She worked with the Goebel porcelain manufacturers and oversaw the production of her figures. Each was, and still is, hand painted and highly detailed. They are inscribed with special markings that identify the year of production and authenticity. The subject of the art and the high quality of the porcelain have made Hummels highly collectible. They can be valued at hundreds, even thousands, of dollars.
