How to Use a Minelab Excalibur

Precious, sentimental metals are always getting lost in dirt, a sandy or grassy area, which makes a metal detector an essential accessory. The Minelab Excalibur 800 and 1000 has Broad Band Spectrum (BBS) technology that emits 17 separate frequencies that not only find rare metals, but also find junk. The Excalibur has minimal controls that allow it to be portable. The Minelab Excalibur can help you find something that might have been lost forever.

Instructions

    • 1

Locate the control panel on the handle of the metal detector, and then press the "ON" switch.

    • 2

Turn up the volume on the control panel to make sure that you can hear the sound through the headphones. Make sure that the volume isn't so high that the sound will injure your ear drums.

    • 3

Turn the "Sensitivity" knob to "Auto," if this is your first time using a metal detector. The "Auto" gives a good balance between important and unimportant items.

    • 4

Turn the "Discriminate/Pin Point" knob to "Discriminate." The "Discriminate" option allows the metal detector to ignore various unwanted metal objects. "Pin-Point" will pick up wanted and unwanted objects.

    • 5

Slide the "Pull tabs" knob to the higher numbers, i.e, 13 to 17 in order to find brass, copper, silver and golden metals. The lower numbers find nuts, bolts and other inexpensive metals.

    • 6

Grip the handle of the metal detector and enter an area that you want to detect. Move the bottom of the detector across the area until the detector beeps. A beep designates an item that is worth digging up.
