How to Change a Battery in an Original Victorinox SAI Watch

Victorinox is also known as the "Original" Swiss Army. The company got its start providing knives to the Swiss army. The SAI watch is a traditional timepiece with a mineral crystal. The watch comes in both men's and ladies' style with a simple analog dial. Waterproof to 300 feet, the watch features a screw-down case back. Be very careful when opening the back of any waterproof watch. There is a thin, delicate gasket that wraps around the interior of the watch case, keeping the watch waterproof.

Instructions

    • 1

Place a soft cloth on a firm work surface. Lay the watch facedown on the cloth.

    • 2

Locate the screw-down notches on the back of the watch case. There will be four notches, two pairs opposite each other around the back of the watch case.

    • 3

Fit the watch case wrench to the notches on the watch case back. If a wrench isn't available, fit calipers to the notches. In a pinch, insert tweezers into the notches and hold with one hand while twisting with the other.

    • 4

Twist the tool counterclockwise. The back of the watch will loosen until it's free.

    • 5

Remove the battery. Take the battery to a jewelry or battery store for testing. Purchase a replacement.

    • 6

Place the battery in its slot. Check any gaskets or seals.

    • 7

Put the back on the watch. Turn the back clockwise until it is firmly in place. Use a tool to tighten the case back completely.
