How to Repair a Corum Watch From Central

With their many artistic features, Corum watches defy the traditional idea of a wrist watch. Since 1955, Corum has experimented with a variety of materials to create their watches, including gems, feathers and even an ultra thin design that is housed inside an antique gold coin. Their signature piece, the Golden Bridge, features a clear front and back watch case around gears that form a single span in the center of the watch face. Repairing a broken strap can be done at home. Because of the unique and delicate nature of these time pieces, internal repairs must be performed by authorized Corum service personnel. To protect the warranty, be sure the sales associate fills out, stamps and signs the warranty card at the time of purchase.

Instructions

    • 1

Spread the soft cloth on a firm work surface. Lay the watch on the cloth.

    • 2

Find the watch band brackets. These are on either side of the watch case. The watch band is held in place with spring bars that fit into lugs on either side of the bracket.

    • 3

Insert the spring bar tool into the side of the watch band bracket. The spring bar tool is a thin piece of metal and can usually be purchased from a craft or jewelry supply store. A small spatula or a thin screwdriver will also work.

    • 4

Press the spring bar toward the center of the watch band bracket. The spring bar will depress and the watch band will pop out of the bracket.

    • 5

Slide the spring bar into the slot in the new watch band. Many new watch bands are packaged with the spring bar already in place.

    • 6

Put one end of the spring bar into the lug on one side of the watch band bracket. Slide the other end of the spring bar behind the second lug on the other side. Gently pull the watch band forward until the spring bar slips into the lug. Repeat with the other side of the watch band.
