Collecting
"Getting started in Disney pin collecting is as simple as procuring a pin you like," according to Walt Disney World. The biggest retailer of pins and sets is Disney's Pin Traders, in Downtown Disney Marketplace. Start off with a pin or two and grow your collection.
Trading
Pin trading encourages interaction with other Disney fans and cast members. Display your collection on a lanyard around your neck. Trade with people you meet. According to the Disney's Pin Traders' rules, a maximum of 2 pins can be traded with each Disney cast member.
Value
Disney character pins range in price from a few dollars to over a hundred or more for retired sets and collector series. The Disney Store sells a beginner's kit that includes a decorative lanyard and eight Mickey Mouse pins for $44.95, as of October 2010, as well as many other gift sets and individually priced pins.
