How do I Repair a Chopard Watch?

Founded in 1860, the Chopard family ran the company until 1963. The Scheufele family purchased the company and still heads the company today. Chopard offers mechanical, battery powered and self-winding watches. Because of the delicate workmanship, Chopard watch cases may only be opened by authorized service personnel. Opening the back of a Chopard watch will void the warranty. Contact the local Chopard dealer or check their website to find a local service site. Replacing the watch band is the only repair that can be done on a Chopard watch at home.

Things You'll Need

  • Spring bar tool

Instructions

    • 1

Spread the soft cloth on a firm work surface. Lay the watch face down on the cloth.

    • 2

Find the watch band bracket on either side of the watch case. Inside the bracket, a spring bar holds the watch band in place. This tiny spring loaded bar presses into two lugs, one on either side of the bracket.

    • 3

Insert the spring bar tool into the side of the watch band bracket. The spring bar tool is a thin strip of strong metal usually found in craft or jewelry supply stores. If a spring bar tool cannot be found, a small spatula or even a thin screwdriver can be substituted.

    • 4

Press the spring bar tool toward the center of the watch band bracket. This depresses the spring bar and the watch band will pop out of the bracket.

    • 5

Insert the spring bar into the new watch band. Some new watch bands have spring bars installed by the manufacturer.

    • 6

Press one side of the spring bar into the lug on one side of the watch band bracket. Slide the other end at an angle so that the end of the spring bar is behind the second lug. Gently pull the watch band forward until the spring bar slips into the lug.
