How to Remove the Sticker From a Paper Collectible

Stickers are often used by the seller or manufacturer to display information such as item number, bar code or price. These stickers can reduce the value of collectibles and can damage the item over time if it is allowed to remain. It is often difficult to remove the stickers from paper without leaving a sticky residue or without tearing the paper beneath. With patience, there are steps you can take to easily remove the stickers from collectible paper items.

Things You'll Need

Instructions

    • 1

Place the collectible on a flat clean surface.

    • 2

Turn your hair dryer on low heat and hold it over the sticker for 30 seconds at a time, to melt the glue on the sticker.

    • 3

Gently peel that corner of the sticker away from the collectible. Pull the sticker up slowly to prevent tearing the collectible. Apply the heat from the hair dryer when you encounter a bit that doesn't want to come up. Pull slowly until all of the sticker has been removed.

    • 4

Apply a small amount of spray adhesive remover onto a paper towel and rub gently on the collectible to remove any adhesive residue. Do not use much of the spray or the paper will get wet and tear. Allow the paper to dry and reapply the spray, if all of the adhesive has not been removed.

    • 5

Allow the paper collectible to completely dry before you handle it.
