Things You'll Need
Instructions
Divide the collectible items by year, type, subject or movie. You can also divide the objects by size or even color. There are nearly unlimited ways to divide the objects. The division of the objects is the key to adding interest to a collection. The wrong kind of division can cause the display to be overwhelming to the eye rather than interesting.
Choose a display location that has good lighting but protection from the sun. Sunlight can cause fading of paint and can discolor clear plastic, making the value of the object go down.
Pick the categories of Star Wars objects. Choose your seven favorite objects from each category. Pack the rest of the objects into boxes. You can periodically switch out the Star Wars items throughout the year to display the whole collection. However, more than seven objects out at a time confuses the eye and makes it hard to enjoy the display.
Display the items that have the largest value behind glass displays. This protects them from dust and fingerprints that can damage the value of the items.
Arrange the other Star Wars items however you like on shelves or tables. Remember that more than seven objects in one place can cause confusion and discord. It changes the objects from interesting collectible items to clutter. You can arrange the items to re-create movie scenes; place several versions of the same character on a shelf; place an action figure, costume, poster and toy of the same character or object together; or use any other arrangement system that you wish.
Add additional lighting to impressive displays. Adding extra lighting to posters, cabinets and shelves makes it easier to view the objects and makes the display appear more professional. Screw the lights into the top of the shelves or frames with a power screwdriver to secure the lights in place. Alternatively, you can buy shelves that come with lighting built in.
