How to Use a Signature Reproduction Machine

A signature reproduction machine--usually referred to as an autopen--is a device used to replicate a signature in high volume (up to 3,000 a day). Celebrities, politicians and others who receive a large number of autograph requests often use an autopen, which is usually about the size of a school desk. Autopens are easy to operate and can sign almost any flat product or paper using the pen or writing instrument of your choice. Signatures will be almost completely identical but you can adjust the machine's settings to make the signatures look more unique.

Instructions

    • 1

Select the signature matrix you wish to use. A signature matrix is a master plate of a person's signature that is used by the machine to reproduce the autograph.

    • 2

Load the signature matrix into the autopen device.

    • 3

Stick a writing utensil of your choice into the pen slot on the machine. Pen, pencil, marker or even crayon is compatible with most autopen machines.

    • 4

Place a sheet of paper--or whatever flat object you wish to autograph--beneath the tip of the pen.

    • 5

Choose the speed setting of the machine.

    • 6

Turn on the autopen machine and watch the machine copy the signature template you installed.

    • 7

Repeat as desired, reloading the machine with paper or whatever you choose to autograph.
