Fairy Gifts for Adults

The idea that only children can enjoy fairies is a myth. Plenty of grown adults want to decorate their homes with fairies, wear fairy objects, and learn about fairy lore. Many of the same things which delight children will also delight adults looking to add a little fairy magic to their surroundings. You can offer them many options in jewelry, accessories, decorations or books to give them many hours of happiness (and keep some money in your wallet).
  1. Jewelry

    • A large variety of jewelry depicts fairies, such as earrings in the shape of a small fairy. For more unusual pieces of fairy-inspired jewelry, look for a fairy crown, which is often made from twisted wire and carefully crafted flowers. A veil can be added to a fairy crown for formal occasions.

    Fashion Accessories

    • Many different fashion accessories feature fairies, including purses or barrettes. Fairy enthusiasts might also look for accessories such as fairy dust, body glitter in various shades, and fairy wings. You can purchase them at any time of year; however, directly after Halloween is the best time, since fairy wings often go on sale once the Halloween stuff in stores is marked down. Enchanted Costumes offers a fairy dust necklace with white/silver dust for about three dollars and an assortment of fairy wings. There are also fairy ears, but they are easily mistaken for elf ears, and thus they may not be suitable depending on how much of a purist the receiver is.

    Decorations

    • Amy Brown is a well known fantasy artist who sells her artwork as posters and figurines among other things. She also has a successful string of art books. It is not, however, necessary to look for a specific artist (unless you know the person you are buying for is interested in a specific style of fairy). There are many available options which do not feature a big brand name.

    Books

    • Art books, drawing books, and informational books are all good choices when making your fairy enthusiast happy. Art books, of course, feature various media such as watercolor, sketching, or even oil paintings of fairies. The artwork of Amy Brown and Linda Ravenstock make great gifts. Drawing books, if the receiver is more hands on, are another good choice. If you give a drawing book, it is also good manners to purchase at a small sketchbook and colored pencils to give them something to start with. Informational books look into the folklore behind the fairies, connecting them with the history of areas in which they are prevalent such as Scotland and Ireland. Expect at least a little bit of a history lesson when it comes to informational books on fairies. Brian Froud is a good author to start with for informational books.
